I read Tinderbox, a long, mostly oral history of HBO ending in 2021 around the time of the Warner Bros. / Discovery merger, which I can’t necessarily recommend. But I was looking up recent award-winning movies, and saw Sheila Nevins, maybe the best personality in the book. She was the longtime head of (non-sports) documentaries at HBO before being forced out and taking a job at MTV. The documentary, Children No More, about Israeli activists looked good to me, but wasn’t available to watch. So I looked at her post-HBO IMDb credits, most of which are available on Paramount Plus (since Paramount owns MTV), which I happen to have (but also can’t necessarily recommend), and I picked Favorite Daughter and Last Flight Home to watch and can recommend both.
(Tinderbox is yet another book Kobo doesn’t have a preview for in their store.)
